Dear Kappa and Matter users,

The Gamma cluster replacing Kappa and Matter is now in production. Some of
you have already requested accounts for Gamma in NSC express and you should
now get these in very short order. For those of you with membership in
projects on Gamma who haven't requested an account on Gamma in NSC Express,
please do so in order to get an account.

The NSC online documentation has been updated with content on Gamma, see
for instance https://www.nsc.liu.se/systems/gamma/ and the links on that
page.

Even though Gamma is very similar to Triolith (and most of you use
Triolith), there are some differences to note, especially how you now
access individual nodes in your running jobs to do checkups. The SSH option
is now deprecated and you need to use a tool called "jobsh". Check out the
documentation for details.

Regarding the decommissioning of Kappa and Matter, we will close these
systems on Friday 12/6 at 12:00, meaning that only jobs with an end time
before this point in time will be started, exactly as if this was a regular
service stop and not a permanent one.

The login nodes of Kappa and Matter will remain accessible for data
transfers until Friday 26/6 for those of you without other means to access
NSC centre storage, e.g. an account on Triolith. A separate notice will be
sent out as a reminder about this on Friday 12/6.

Welcome to Gamma!

On behalf of the Gamma team at NSC
Johan Raber
