Dear Gimle Users,

NSC is very pleased to announce the visit of Allinea Software on June
5th at NSC, where they will be giving a two hour live demonstration of
their flagship product, the Allinea DDT software debugger, a leading
debugging tool for parallel applications. We wish you all very welcome
to attend.

In addition to the demonstration there will be further announcements
from Allinea regarding the impending update of their software solutions
(under existing signed NDA).

The demonstration will be held in the NSC conference room, ground floor,
G building, campus Valla in Linköping starting at 13:00.

No registration is required but if somebody from SMHI intending
to attend could give us an approximate figure on how many will join from
you, that would be much appreciated so we can make satisfactory
practical arrangements.

Abstract
--------
The market is rapidly changing with the ever increasing number of cores
per system as well as new technology released, for instance GPU based
accelerators. This increases the pressure on the developers needing to
port serial applications to parallel or revamp an already parallel
application so they can fully exploit the new hardware. Are the tools
ready to support these developers?

We, at Allinea, have been collaborating with several large organizations
in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Asia) and in the USA to address these
needs and to design a solution : Allinea DDT.

One of the main issues we have found, was that even though efficiency
and speed/reactivity was important features in a parallel debugger, that
was not the main issue to address. Rather, the way data is presented to
the developers was found to be the most important factor whatever the
scale of the debugging session.

Allinea DDT 3.1 is the result of this research and it includes the first
level of requested intelligence to help developers.

----
Best Regards
Johan Raber
