Dear Nebula Users,

we need to update the OS and the Slurm scheduler on Nebula to supported
versions. After talking to our user representative Martin Lilleeng Sætra
we have scheduled this for 15-18 CET on Tuesday 12 January 2021.

No jobs will run during the downtime (due to the Slurm update) and the
login nodes will not be available. And as alwats, jobs requiring too
long timelimit close to the downtime will not start until afterwards.

We've heard that some of you might wonder if this affects the installed
software and modules in /software, as for the update we are currently
doing on Bi at NSC. The answer is no. The Bi update is major update from
CentOS 6 to 7 which requires new /software too. The update on Nebula is
a minor update from CentOS 7.8 to 7.9 and will not affect /software.

With that said, independently from the OS update above, we are also
planning a refresh of /software on Nebula to bring in new stuff from the
NSC academic clusters, but that will only bring in new software and
modules and is not expected to remove or change existing software and
modules. We will inform you when that is done.

Best Regards,
