[Snic-users] Kappa, Matter and Neolith problems today

Dear Kappa, Matter and Neolith users,

As you might have noticed, we had to reboot the Kappa login node
earlier today, and performance on the Matter and Neolith login nodes
has also been slow at times.

This was due to deadlocks in the shared filesystem (/nobackup, /home,
/software). The usual solution of restarting the affected part of the
server cluster did not help this time, probably because the source of
the problem was still running somewhere on one of our 1700+ nodes.

The situation seems to be back to normal now. We think that we know
what happened, but are not 100% sure yet.
