[Storage-users] Access to tape storage system at NSC reenabled

Dear Storage Users,

Due to an unfortunate incident on hubble (the tape storage interface),
where a file tree under transfer had a link, which was not treated as a
link, pointing back into the tree, we have been forced to perform a file
system check on all file systems on hubble. The link pointing back into
the tree wasn't handled as a link by "lftp" and thus an infinite (well,
theoretically ...) loop was created in which a very deep directory
structure was created. This wasn't handled as gracefully as one would
have thought (or hoped) by the file system and therefore some cleaning
up was necessary. One of the file systems unfortunately took almost 24h
to be fsck:ed, hence the prolonged downtime. No data was lost, however.
The file systems are up and running now and you can once again use hubble.

Going forward, please follow the storage system user guide, the
"Examples" section is still valid and useful, on URL
http://www.nsc.liu.se/systems/storage.html. Ignore all grid-proxy-init,
migftp and "nuffs" stuff though, it's been superseded by SSH keys, lftp
and hubble respectively, in accord with previous communications. The
user guide will be updated as soon as time permits.

Best Regards,
Johan Raber
