From raber at nsc.liu.se Thu Jul 1 15:50:38 2010 From: raber at nsc.liu.se (Johan Raber) Date: Thu Jul 1 14:50:57 2010 Subject: [Tornado-users] The impending demise of Tornado Message-ID: <4C2C8F1E.6040400@nsc.liu.se> Dear Fellow Tornado Abusers, It is with great sorrow I write to let you know that Tornado as we have come to love and cherish it, is no more. At 08:54 this morning the batch job scheduler was turned off to let nature take its course. A few remaining jobs still runs on the fallen beast and will run until they are finished. After that is silence, the little tick of the kernel will fade and no more out-of-memory incidents will haunt the poor old lady (pretty please ...) and the nodes will be still. Sniff, sniff ... For you this means that you have until September 1st (two months) to salvage your precious data from Tornado's /home directory since the login node will be open until then, after that no promises can be made. The two analysis nodes, a1 and a2, will also be kept open until Sept 1st. Most likely the /home disks will be erased in short order thereafter. Any questions about this shutdown can be addressed to smhi-support@nsc.liu.se as usual. Best regards, Johan Raber -- NSC support
