Dear Vagn users,

Files from Vagn is now available in the project directories on
Triolith. Where your data is depends on which project you belong to.

DCS Project Directory on Triolith
----------- ---------------------
Rossby /proj/rossby/vagn
SMHI Research /proj/fouo/vagn
MISU/Bolin Centre /proj/bolinc/vagn
KTH Mechanics /proj/kthmech/vagn

In each of these directories are three sub-directories: home, vagn1 and
vagn2 where directories from /home, /nobackup/vagn1 and /nobackup/vagn2
have been copied.

Example for a MISU user with username x_abcde on Vagn:

Directory on Vagn Directory on Triolith
----------------- ---------------------
/home/x_abcde /proj/bolinc/vagn/home/x_abcde
/nobackup/vagn1/x_abcde /proj/bolinc/vagn/vagn1/x_abcde
/nobackup/vagn2/x_abcde /proj/bolinc/vagn/vagn2/x_abcde

On Vagn your primary unix group was your project group (misu, rossby,
kthmech, sm_fouo...) so all files you created got owned by this group by
default. This is not the case on Triolith, where each user have a
personal group.

To give you a behavior that is as similar to that on Vagn as possible,
we have added the setgid bit (chmod g+s) to all directories copied from
Vagn to Triolith. For any directories where this is not desired you can
easily remove this using "chmod g-s".

For more information on how Triolith differs from Vagn, please see our
user guide for Vagn/DCS users:

For more information about the data migration, read "What will
happen to files on Vagn?" on this page:

If you have other questions about this you can either contact NSC
Support by sending e-mail to support at nsc.liu.se, or contact your Vagn
user group representative:

Laurent Brodeau (MISU)
Anders Höglund (SMHI FoU)
Michael Kolax (Rossby)
Philipp Schlatter (KTHMECH)

Kind regards,
Pär Lindfors, NSC
