Dear Vagn users,

Next Wednesday (2011-12-21) we will change the default version of the
Intel compiler on Vagn to version 12.1.0.

This change has already been performed on Gimle, Neolith, Kappa and Matter.

If you do not build your own applications on Vagn, you can stop reading now.

Details:

Next Wednesday, the default version of the Intel compiler will be
changed from 11.1.064 to 12.1.0.

If you do not load a compiler module when you log in, you will get
version 12.1.0 when you run "icc", "ifort" etc. "module add intel"
will also give you version 12.1.0.

Startign with version 12.0.3, the name of the Intel modules will be
changed from icc, ifort and idb to just intel. Since Intel now
packages ifort, icc, icpc and idb in the same directory, having three
separate modules makes no sense.

All previously installed compiler versions (e.g icc/11.1.064) will
continue to be available if you for some reason cannot use version 12.

Applications built with the old compiler versions will continue to work.

If your application is sensitive to compiler changes you should test
the new compiler as soon as possible by doing "module add
intel/12.1.0" and then rebuilding and testing your application.

Sincerely,

--
