Dear Bi Users,

the march towards CentOS 7 and the new environment on Bi goes on as
November gets closer. For more general information, see

https://lists.nsc.liu.se/mailman/public/bi-users/2020-July/000287.html
https://lists.nsc.liu.se/mailman/public/bi-users/2020-September/000292.html

As part of this we will take down the CentOS 6 login node bi2 at 13:00
CEST on Thursday 2020-10-08. When the login node is back, later the same
day or on Friday, it will be running CentOS 7 just like the bi3 login
node.

If you currently use bi2 to do things that still require the CentOS 6
environment, you will have to move that to bi1 while you work on getting
it ready for CentOS 7.

We will not move additional compute nodes to CentOS 7 today (currently
144 nodes there) but will continue to monitor the relative use of the C6
and the C7 nodes. If you are ready to move jobs that use a substantial
amount on nodes to the C7 world, please contact us at
smhi-support at nsc.liu.se so we can adjust the split accordingly.

As always, when you use new environment and discover something that you
think should work, but that seems broken or missing, feel free to send
us an email at smhi-support at nsc.liu.se. We kindly ask you to preface the
subject with "Bi-C7: " at this point in time to help us distinguish
those emails from questions or problem reports for the current, soon to
be legacy, Bi environment.
