Dear NSC users,

On June 15th, Triolith, Gamma, Kappa and Matter will be unavailable from 08:00.

Start of downtime: 2015-06-15 08:00 CEST
Estimated duration of downtime: 8-24 hours

We will inform you when the systems are back online.

Please note that Kappa/Matter compute nodes will be shut down before
this downtime (see
https://lists.nsc.liu.se/mailman/public/kappa-users/2015-June/000102.html)
and that the Kappa/Matter login nodes will be shut down at 08:00 on
June 15th but never started again (see
https://lists.nsc.liu.se/mailman/public/kappa-users/2015-June/000104.html).

During this stop we will perform hardware maintenance on the storage
system to fix the instability that caused the outage on May 20th. We
will also permanently disconnect Kappa and Matter from the storage
system which will allow us to double the storage bandwidth available
to Gamma from 20 Gbit/s to 40 Gbit/s. We will also take the
opportunity to perform various software upgrades.

All login nodes (including ThinLinc) and compute nodes will be
unavailable during this time, and will be restarted during the stop.

Running and queued jobs will not be affected.

Queued jobs that have requested enough time that they cannot finish
before the downtime will not be started. E.g 7 day jobs cannot start
if there are less than 7 days remaining before the stop.

If you need to run jobs in the week before the downtime, you might
need to shorten your jobs.

Jobs that are in the queue before the downtime will remain in the
queue, and will be started normally after the downtime.

Hint to low-priority projects: short jobs will find it easier than
usual to run in the days immediately before downtime, as they don't
have to compete with longer jobs.
