If you have a need for moving large filesets between hosts (or
locally) please have a look at ffv:

   http://www.nsc.liu.se/~perl/ffv

The main feature with ffv compared to other file transfer mechanisms
is its asynchronous mode of operation and it's ability to move data
between hosts.

ffv is available on several NSC systems (Vagn, Gimle, Bore, Byvind,
Kappa) and also on Ekman. If you'd like to try out ffv from Ekman you
will have to contact support at nsc.liu.se because we have to set some
AFS acl's for you before you can use it (not necessary on the other
systems though).

If you have any questions either send an mail to support or contact me
directly.
