[Bi-users] Change of the MPI run-time environment

Dear Bi-user,

We have noticed rare and sporadic MPI-startup problems on Bi with
errors of the type "can't open /dev/ipath, network down (err=26)".

As an initial solution we have now modified the environment for
starting MPI-jobs. This will be transparent to all jobs except for 32
MPI-ranks/node jobs (with hyperthreading enabled). If you want to run
32 MPI-ranks/node jobs, please contact smhi-support at nsc.liu.se for
instructions.

We are working on a solution that will be transparent to all jobs.
