Dear Krypton Users,

As some of you have noticed, interactive sessions have been slow
(sometimes unbearably so) after lunch for the last few days. There are
several factors contributing to this, but the triggering factor seems
to be something automated that starts twice per day and writes 5-10G
of data to a home directory and then deletes/moves that data as soon
as it's finished. This starts about 10 minutes past 01 and 13.

This has been going on since at least the 5th this month, and we have
not been able to identify what job/user it comes from. If any of you
have jobs that run these times (via cron/at or other methods), contact
me so we can have a look and figure out if it's that particular job
that manages to tie down the server and what we can do about it.
