Dear Triolith, Kappa and Matter users,

On Monday December 16th, Triolith, Kappa and Matter will be completely
unavailable to users from 08:00 CET. If all goes well the systems will
be available again after a few hours.

Any users logged in at 08:00 will be logged out. Queued jobs will
remain in the queue and will be started when the systems are started
again.

As always when we have an upcoming system stop scheduled like this,
please keep this in mind:

1: From now and until the stop, only jobs that will end before 08:00
CET on December 16th will be started. E.g if you submit a job on
December 15th at 08:00, it will only start immediately if you request
less than 24h of wall time ("sbatch -t 24:00:00").

2: Many nodes will probably be idle in the days before the stop, so
anyone who can run short jobs will probably find it easy to get a lot
of work done.

This stop is due to a firmware upgrade on NSC's Centre Storage (the
shared /home and /nobackup/global file systems) that cannot be done
while the systems are running.

The upgrade has been recommended by our hardware vendor to reduce the
risk of an unplanned outage of the type that happened on November
23rd.
